About this trip

What’s included

  • 3 Online Meetings
For traveler intros, trip packing & preparation, and general Q&A. Held in January, February, and April before departure.
  • In-Person Meet Up
A night-before-crossing meet-up in a Washington state campground on beautiful Padilla Bay.
  • Satellite Device Support
Lead vehicle traveling with a ZOLEO for critical communication (if necessary) via satellite.
  • In-Caravan Communication
Radios to communicate between all caravan vehicles.
  • Route Planning
Route planning and pacing for an enjoyable 10-day/9-night drive up the Cassiar and west on the ALCAN. We travel through British Columbia, the Yukon, and into southcentral Alaska.
  • All Campsite Fees
All site fees. Six overnights at private RV parks with many amenities (hookups, laundry, showers, food trucks). Three overnights at primitive provincial parks in BC, the Yukon, and Alaska.
  • Canadian Currency
$100 "just in case" money in Canadian currency at the start of the trip; emergency funds you could use (for example) in the rare case of credit card machines going offline in remote communities.
  • Overnight Stop Selection
In places vetted for comfort, beauty, and safety, as well as strategically located for re-stocking in far-flung cities.
  • "Kim's Picks in AK"
A list of this Former Resident’s favorite towns to visit, things to do, stuff to see, and places to eat.
  • Daily Group Ups
Over coffee or a campfire, we'll circle up and go over our daily itinerary, as well as chat about all things Alaska: the geography, culture, attractions, and safety.

What’s not included

  • Other Expenses
All expenses associated with your travel to, in, and from Alaska (except the 9 nights campground fees & $100 Canadian currency).
  • Insurance
Medical evacuation and road assistance insurance (recommended). I personally use CoachNet.

Hi. I'm your host, Kim Ryals. I've been an RVer as long as I can recall and on the road since 2018. Through Caravan to Alaska, I organize and offer bespoke adventures curated over years of travel to and from Alaska (and through most of the states in-between).

I've dialed in the details of well-paced trips that stop in all the right places and savor the area's surroundings. I love sharing the front country and offering fellow travelers the peace of mind (and fun!) that comes with small caravans and camp outs.

The campout at McDowell Mountain Regional Park was all we hoped it would be. We met like-minded new friends, had great conversations, and came away knowing we aren’t alone in our beliefs about what’s right & wrong in this country. We talked about current events & politics like you can’t do at home or at a campground when you’re on the road. Everyone was open and everyone accepted everyone else’s opinion. It’s great to know there’s a community of shared values on the road. We live in Virginia and are looking forward to another campout with other, more local, members of this group! ———————————-

We had a great time in a private group site at McDowell Mountain Park. The sharing of knowledge, ideas, and stories made it a great experience.
